Harrisburg is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Harrisburg is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

There is a track to walk around in a circle that goes around the baseball stadium. You can watch a Harrisburg Senators game here. There is sometimes a food truck on the end of the island opposite where you park. There is another smaller field where people play soccer and kickball.

Love it here, has everything you need when exploring an island park. I love how so many groundhogs live on the island and seem unbothered by everyone lol.

Beautiful island with so much history and things to do. I regularly park here to ride the Harrisburg Greenbelt bike trail. Water golf is a terrific mini golf venue. The Miner league team is a blast to watch here if youβre into baseball. The pride of the Susquehanna is also seasonal fun. The downside are the failure to reconstruct at least a bike and pedestrian span across to the Westshore from the old bridge ruins. And the lack of understandable parking, which is always a challenge for us with our 15 passenger van. It is very confusing and unclear when we come from out of state how to pay for and use the parking on the south side of the island. The lots in the middle of the island say they are not for extended passenger vans. We often park up by Water golf, and the bathhouse at the north end because we canβt figure out any other solution. The other downside is the recent addition of massive speed bumps all around the north end of the island. That road used to be a pleasure to cycle and ride around and now it is just a disaster. Whoever thought that was a good idea should be fired.

I wish the train had more to see on it. Overall, if you don't live in Harrisburg, City Island is a nice place to check out at least once. Cross the People's. Ride the train. Go for a walk or run. See a Senator's game! I need to do the river boat ferry at some point.

So I parked on the island next to the ball park and walked around the island and across the pedestrian bridge. Views are amazing and the property was clean and well maintained. I had full bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming. Lots of entertainment options on the island including but not limited to ball park, football and soccer stadium, mini golf, train rides, π , beach club, volleyball and more..
